Socio-Spatial Segregation

RESEARCH AREA

We study the impact of segregation on social groups within urban spaces. Aiming to develop innovative solutions that promote diversity and inclusion in the built environment, exploring the different forms of urban production that can either perpetuate or break down these disparities.

Our research is driven by a commitment to social justice and creating equitable, liveable communities for all.

SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND GENTRIFICATION

Investigating the role of urban planning and zoning policies in perpetuating or mitigating segregation and social exclusion in urban areas.

CULTURE, HISTORY, CITY, AND COMMUNITY

Examining the impact of historical and cultural factors on the production of urban space, and their potential for shaping more equitable and inclusive communities

SOCIAL EQUITY

Analysing the relationship between economic development and social equity, particularly regarding access to affordable housing, healthcare, and education.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Developing and testing innovative models of community engagement and collaboration, which can foster more inclusive and participatory approaches to urban design and planning.

Medellín
